SWR Teacher
What are the SWR basics for teaching spelling?
• Two teacher texts: Spell to Write and Read Teacher's Manual [red] + Wise Guide for Spelling [owl]. SWRTM is “how + why” and WG is the word list “what + when + where.”
• Two flash card sets: 70 Basic Phonograms + SWR Spelling Rule Cards. Choose ORIGINAL 4.5” x 5.25” size or New! LARGE Classroom Phonogram Cards 8.5” x 5.5” and LARGE Classroom spelling rule cards 8.5” x 5.5”.
• Sound recording of the 70 Basic Phonograms on CD, available at SWRForum for $10.20 + shipping/handling.
• A Teacher Log you write for yourself - this can be the full Black Log or Red Log for teaching younger students. If you take a seminar, order a blank one for training. You only need one completed for yourself - no need to repeat in the future!

Teacher Helpers
Coordinating books help you teach!
• Alpha List: 2000 words from Wanda Sanseri’s WISE Guide + 300 extras, all alphabetically listed. These most commonly used English words are listed differently from the Wise List to make a quick alphabetical reference when you need to explain a word. Bonus pages show syllables info, phonograms, & rules. It’s not required up front, but it’s a great tool to add next year. We recommend one per school for teachers to share the resource.
• Spelling Dictation Guide: low-cost laminated 4” x 11” bookmark with dictation script + Think to Spell ideas. Great way to mark your current spelling list and avoid juggling 2 books at a time!
• Suggested Book List: Sanseri book lists by grade level. We advise one per school when a reading resource is needed.
• WISE Guide Worksheets A-M or N-Z. These books give you a digital download to print blank student worksheets (of your choice) that go directly with activities in the WISE Guide for Spelling, from Section A all the way to Section Z-2. Buy it once, use it always! One per classroom teacher.
• Cursive First: letter formations in order of letter strokes for the alphabet, and designed to coordinate directly with the order of multi-letter phonograms found in SWR. Useful for teaching cursive writing at any stage, before or after manuscript printing.

Readers with Activities
• Beginning Readers: some words from early WG lists (sections A, B, C, D, E, F) provide early reading practice when relatives ask, “are your children reading yet?” (1) Play by the Sea (2) Let’s Play, “I See”
• Grammar Readers: interactive grammar work is possible with these consumables that build from early WG lists, with Subject Verb agreement, Prepositions, and diagrams. (1) I Can Run! 2) Up, Over, and Out
• Students write and draw in these consumable booklets that boost confidence and show ownership. Students are co-authors and illustrators!
